Abstract
|
|
|
A new plasma expander, hydroxyethyl starch (volex) solution was statistically compared to Dextran 70 on clinical cases. The two groups consisted of 38 cases infused by hydroxyethl starch and 30 cases infused by Dextran 70. The stastical comparisons have been made through t-test on the average values of the defferences between pre and postanesthetsie examinations. The parameters compared were as follows: systolic pressure, pulse pressure, RBC, hemoglobin, hemactocrit, WBC, electrolytes, bleeding time, coagulation time and platelets.
The systolic and pulse pressure well maintaned in the both groups during and. Following anesthesia. RBC, hematocrit were markedly decreased following the anesthesia due to the dilution of the blood.
The decrease of hemoglobin was significant (pSerum K showed no difference following anesthesia. The bleeding time prolonged immediately after the infusion in both groups. The coagulation time slightly decreased following the infusion in both groups and the decrease was marked in. the group of hydroxyethyl starch. The platelets decreased following anesthesia and recovered to above the prearsthetic level in both groups.
